Description
Tamil and Tamil Nadu are thorns in the flesh of Hindi politicians who control the Indian government. Many Hindi politicians have not forgotten that it was Tamil Nadu that stalled (not stopped) Hindi becoming the sole official language of India on January 26, 1965. Sanskrit and Tamil are the two oldest languages of South Asia. Only thing that stands in the way of Indian government officially declaring Sanskrit as the mother of all languages of South Asia is Tamil. Scholars inside and outside India agree that Tamil is not a child of Sanskrit.
There is an ongoing tug of war between Indian government and Tamil Nadu over Tamil. It is an uneven and unfair war because Hindi/Sanskrit have the power of the Indian government and Tamil does not. I am afraid my mother tongue Tamil would be stomped down under the powerful government machinery of the Indian government.
The 14 articles in this book discuss the many ways India n government is attempting to stomp down Tamil while spending huge amount of tax monies to develop and propagate Hindi and Sanskrit. Topics discussed include: hypocrisy of Indian government ministers visiting Tamil Nadu, politics of classical languages, Indian government attempts to cut off Tamils in foreign lands access to Tamil culture, Indian government attempts to block Tamil development into the 21-st century, and Indian government denigrating and degrading Tamil on the Internet.
